Woody Harrelson in talks for Venom

Actor Woody Harrelson is poised to reunite with his Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer to star in comic book blockbuster Venom.
Tom Hardy is set to portray the titular Spider-Man supervillain, with Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Jenny Slate already onboard, and now Harrelson is in talks to join the cast, reports Deadline.com.
Details about his potential role have yet to be revealed, but if he does sign on, it will mark his second project with Fleischer following their 2009 sci-fi adventure.
Venom is set to open in October, 2018.
Sony Pictures executives have previously stated the movie will be separate from the Spider-Man film franchise, which includes this year’s (17) Spider-Man: Homecoming.
In the comic books, Venom is a photographer named Eddie Brock, who turns into his alter-ego after his body is taken over by a fictional alien parasite. He originally sets out to destroy Spider-Man, but subsequently becomes an ally.
